How I Work
I'm Rebecca Flintham, a qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist based in Rye, East Sussex. I have many years of experience helping adults and young people navigate their mental health challenges. As a Registered Member of The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (Reg MBACP 384951), I provide a safe and supportive environment for exploring ways to help you feel better.
My Approach to Therapy
I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches to ensure that your experience is tailored to your needs. Some of the approaches I use include:
- Transactional Analysis (TA)
- Person-Centred Therapy (PC)
- Gestalt Therapy
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
At the heart of our work together is the therapeutic relationship we build. By creating trust and openness, we'll work collaboratively to explore your experiences and find ways to manage the challenges you face.
Areas of Expertise
I work with a variety of mental health concerns, including:
- Anxiety and panic attacks
- Low mood and depression
- Low self-esteem and self-confidence
- Obsessive thinking and negative thought patterns
- Procrastination
- Relationship difficulties and communication issues
Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, unsure about your next steps, or stuck in unhelpful patterns, we will work together to understand these challenges and find meaningful ways forward.
What to Expect
In our sessions, we'll explore what you want to change and find the tools to help you feel happier within yourself, your relationships, and your daily life. We might look at patterns in how you relate to others, how you think and feel about yourself, and any areas where you feel stuck. We can explore your past to understand how it may still be affecting you today. For instance, decisions made in childhood about who you are might need rethinking to align with the person you've become. I understand it can feel overwhelming, but our sessions will be a safe, supportive space to work through it together.
Life can be challenging for all of us, especially during major changes—whether it's the loss of a loved one, a relationship breakdown, feeling unfulfilled at work, or repeating the same unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour. Talking to a qualified therapist is a positive step towards understanding these behaviours and starting to make the changes you need to feel better and more in control of your life.
